The threats to our vital IT infrastructures are omnipresent and becoming more and more dramatic. The decisive factor in containing them is an excellently trained workforce for all areas of activity involving IT systems in business, government and society. Employees of companies and organisations, especially specialists and managers, can acquire these necessary skills in the cyber security learning laboratory at the Hochschule Niederrhein.

The Cyber Security Learning Lab with a focus on “High Security and Emergency Response” is an advanced training programme within which Fraunhofer FKIE, the Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg and the Hochschule Niederrhein offer advanced training courses with a high practical focus on the topic of cyber security for professionals from business, industry and public authorities.

In view of the rapid development of digitisation in all areas of society and technology, the danger and effects of cyberattacks are currently increasing dramatically. It is therefore precisely now that IT professionals must be trained in the topic of cyber security and those already in professional life must receive further training.

With experts from the Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Processing and Ergonomics (FKIE), the learning lab at the Cyber Management Campus will provide the latest knowledge, skills and experience in the assessment, risk analysis, prevention and avoidance of cyberattacks by means of secure corporate processes and necessary management decisions.

The Fraunhofer Academy is the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft’s training institution. With its continuing education options it passes on current research knowledge and competencies of the Fraunhofer Institutes to commercial enterprises for the best possible qualification of employees. New research results reach companies where they become innovations, applied research becomes meaningful and companies can remain competitive on the global market.

Within the framework of the Fraunhofer Academy, the Cyber Security Learning Lab is the continuing education programme in which experts from Fraunhofer and selected universities of applied sciences teach students the latest findings in the field of cyber security. Compact event formats allow for in-service qualification and flexibly combinable modules teach cyber security for different professional roles. Specialists and managers from industry and public administration receive a compact qualification in high-quality laboratories with the latest IT infrastructure and can therefore update and specialise their skills in IT security.
